Mindy and Kevin // Pelican Inn Wedding

I’m so thankful to have been chosen to document and be a part of Mindy and Kevin’s wedding in mid-March. This was around the time when the COVID-19 pandemic really started affecting people’s plans for celebrations and gatherings as the restrictions for groups started going from 1000 people to 500, to 100, and kept going. (Just at midnight that night, the shelter in place order would take effect.) Mindy was struggling with the potential of having her mom unable to make it to the wedding. If her mom was unable to come, Mindy wanted to do a private ceremony and then rejoin guests for the reception later.

I breathed a big sigh of relief when I got the message from Mindy a day before the wedding that her mom made it! Mindy’s mom did her nails for her and made them their wedding cake (which Mindy and Kevin nervously cut in front of their guests while laughing at how strange it was that cutting a cake publicly held so much importance). It was truly an honor to have been a witness to their intimate celebration.
